Home Remedies for Urinary Tract Infection That Work - Health - Alternative Medicine

Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is a very painful condition caused by the bacterial infection, which affects the urinary bladder, urethra, ureters and in serious cases may also affect the kidneys. Women mostly face a problem of UTI in the urinary bladder known as Cystitis. The bacteria enter through the opening of urethra and multiply in the urinary tract resulting in this infection. 1. Increase the intake of Vitamin C taking sufficient amounts of oranges, grapes, Indian gooseberry or lime juice. This creates an acidic environment in the urethra and prevents the growth of the bacteria.

2. Consuming fresh berry juice by women in the morning and night is highly beneficial that prevents and treats the UTI.

3. Cheese, dairy products, chocolate and sugary foods should be avoided to retard the bacterial growth. Even artificial sweeteners may be harmful in this condition.

4. Apply hot compression through heating pads below the abdomen. This will help in reducing the pains to some extent.

5. Drinking lots of water helps in flushing out the toxins out of the body and reduces the UTI symptoms. Baking soda added to the drinking water helps in cleaning the urinary tract.

6. Fresh Cranberry juice is also rich in Vitamin C, which is considered to be the best in treating UTI.

7. Drinking Marsh mellow tea is a very popular home remedy for this treatment. This is antiseptic in nature and helps in destroying the bacteria.

8. Application of the essential oils of Juniper, tea tree, sandalwood and bergamot is beneficial in treating and preventing UTI.
