These medications work by attaching to the ergosterol on the yeast wall and cause minor holes in the wall. The cell wall becomes leaky, and eventually the yeast dies.
By a week or so, yeast infections cure with applications of these medicines. If the symptoms still persist, it is advisable to go for a medical check-up. Your doctor may order a blood sugar test or some other tests to find out whether there is any complication like diabetes that is contributing to a general decline of immunity.
